Challenge
As an ex-law student turned wine connoisseur, Dave from the self-titled brand Dave’s Wine Revival is used to not doing things the traditional way. After starting a part-time job at a wine shop, his passion for all things wine was ignited, and he’s now spent over a decade creating his own sustainable wine using excess grapes from farmers (and even starting one of Brisbane’s only inner-city wineries!).
Dave approached one of our agency partners, digital marketing studio, iced&shaken, for help creating a new brand vision for the latest iteration of his business: a wine bar and store designed to connect dedicated winemakers directly with savvy consumers. As part of their overarching marketing strategy, iced&shaken reached out to us to help develop the creative direction and branding that would ultimately guide the visual side of the business.
Perspective
Collaborate with iced&shaken to develop a bold, creative direction, brand identity and supporting collateral for Dave’s Wine Revival that captures the brand’s unapologetically modern, disruptive attitude while still honouring the craft and tradition of winemaking.
Solution
From the very beginning, we were inspired by Dave’s rebel spirit in what is traditionally a ‘stuffy’ industry. Taking a cheeky swipe at the pompous side of wine-making, whilst still paying homage to it as an ancient art, we developed a creative direction themed around joyful, neon-coloured vandalism.
We knew that the final brand had to be androgynous, as whilst their typical online customer was women over 30, the bar customers were likely to be far more varied. The idea of artwork reimagined was also heavily infused into our creative process from the very beginning. An initial concept of the bar’s fit-out had included a wall of graffiti spray paint art by Brisbane based artist, Lucky Lucks. Additionally, Dave’s wife, Kris is an artist who creates gorgeous pieces for their wine labels. We envisioned a melding of the street and finer art worlds together.
We decided to combine Renaissance-style imagery of wine (and the lords and ladies drinking it), with grungy Blackletter gothic text, and then splashing vibrant neon graffiti over the top in rebellion. It perfectly captures the essence of the brand’s attitude- think Louvre robber who enjoys a glass of vino. This bold personality is tangible through clever micro copy, bright contrasting colours and not so PC language. The attitude immediately translates.
From there, we created primary, secondary, tertiary and alternate logos that could be used easily across the wide branches of the brand, from bottles to website, and even to the wall iconography lining the bar hallways. As part of the package, we also included two editable collateral templates of Dave’s choice. We created new wine menu templates, as well as a playful and quirky wine tasting review card, that challenges customers' perceptions of traditional tastings.
Impact
The brand identity for Dave’s Wine Revival now perfectly captures Dave’s forward-thinking approach to wine and his passion for rewriting industry norms. The new brand has given his business an immediately recognisable personality while reinforcing his credibility as both a craftsman and innovator. We’re so excited to watch iced&shaken build on the brand and amplify it to establish Dave’s as a standout presence in Brisbane’s bar and winemaking scene.
The brand now embodies exactly what Dave set out to achieve: a modern revival of wine culture, built on creativity, sustainability, and a healthy dose of rebellion.

Nº3. ABOUT
Dave's Wine Revival is a unique wine bar and online wine store located in Brisbane, Australia, founded by wine connoisseur and entrepreneur Dave. What started as a passion project born from a part-time job at a wine shop has evolved into one of Brisbane's only inner-city wineries and a thriving retail concept.
At its core, Dave's Wine Revival is committed to sustainability and innovation in the wine industry. The business sources excess grapes from local farmers that would otherwise go to waste, transforming them into distinctive, small-batch wines. This approach not only reduces waste but also creates unique expressions that challenge traditional winemaking conventions.
Today, Dave's Wine Revival operates as both a wine bar and retail space, serving as a direct bridge between dedicated, sustainable winemakers and discerning wine lovers.
